AFCAT 2023

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is led by the Indian Air Force and millions of students appear to ace this exam to join reputable Air Force Academy and get a commission as an Indian Air Force Officer. The test is held every year in February and August, solely, to pick-up Class-I Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical).
Candidates are picked subject to their presence in the online test and Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) meet. Newcomers settling on Ground Duty (Technical) branches are required to show up in both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).


Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria

Flying Branch: as far as possible is 20 to 24 years. The upper age limit for candidates holding a legitimate and current DGCA (India) Commercial Pilot License, can apply as long as 26 years.

Ground Duty: as far as possible is 20 to 26 years. 

 

Educational Qualifications.

(i) Flying Branch: 

Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and

 Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(ii) Ground Duty (Technical) Branch.

1)  Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) 

 Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

2) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) 

Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

(iii) Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches.

 Weapon Systems (WS) Branch: Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and

Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 

Administration& Logistics: Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 

Accounts Branch: Passed 10+2 and done graduation in any of the following streams with 60 % marks or equivalent from a recognized university:-

B. Com Degree (Min three years course).

Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance)

Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA.

B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.

Education: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.

Meteorology: Passed 10+2 and B Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following streams:-

Communication Engineering.

Computer Engineering/Technology.

Computer Engineering and Application.

Computer Science and Engineering/Technology.

Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Electronics Engineering/Technology.

Electronics Science and Engineering.

Electronics.

Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Electronics and Computer Science.

Electronics and/or Telecommunication Engineering.

Electronics and/or Telecommunication Engineering (Microwave).

Instructive Qualification:

For Flying: The up-and-comer must be an alumni with any degree with at any rate 60% checks in graduation. He probably scored 60% passed Physics and Maths in class 12th. 

For Technical Branch: Candidates must be either showing up or qualified for a 4-year degree and having finished Sections A and B Examination of Associate Membership of the Indian Institute of Engineers or Aeronautical Society with at least 60%. 

For Ground Duty (Non-Technical): B. Com. Graduate with at least 60% imprints. For training official post, the applicants ought to have MBA/MCA or M.A./M.Sc Degree in English/ Physics/ International Studies/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ International Relations/ Defense Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Journalism/ Public Relation/ Mass Communication with least of 50% and have scored least 60% in graduation.

Exam Date:

All applicants whose applications are submitted by due date will be called for AFCAT at one of the examination centres on either 24 Feb 23 (Friday), 25 Feb 23 (Saturday) and 26 Feb 23 (Sunday)

 

Syllabus: 

English:Comprehension, Detect Error in Sentence, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonym/ Antonym, Cloze Test or Fill in the Gaps in a paragraph, Idioms and Phrases, Analogy, Sentence Rearranging, Substitution in a Sentence/ One Word Substitution. .

General Awareness: History, Geography, Sports, National & International Organisations, Art & Culture, Personalities, Environment & Ecology, Indian Polity, Economy, Basic Science Based Knowledge, Science & Technology, Current Affairs (National & International), Defence.

Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average/ Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Time & Distance and Races (Trains/ Boats & Streams), Area and Perimeter, Probability, Number System & Number Series, Mixture & Allegation Rules, Clocks. (ad) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning

 

AFCAT Exam Pattern

The syllabus and exam pattern of AFCAt is prescribed by the conducting body. IAF mentions the detailed syllabus and scheme of AFCAT online exam in the notification. 

The examination is divided into two stages-

  1. AFCAT written Test
  2. AFSB interview

The AFCAT written test is further subdivided into two parts-

  1. AFCAT exam – mandatory for all the candidates appearing for any branch (Flying branch, Ground Duty Technical or Ground Duty non-technical branch)
  2. EKT – Engineering Knowledge Test – This exam is only for candidates who have applied for the Ground Duty Technical branch.
